Note the lack of unit patches on the flight suit. We didn’t wear patches across the Mekong River on our missions over Laos. Chic arrived at NKP on 7 February 1967. On 8 December 1967 he was diagnosed as having tuberculosis and air evaced from NKP that morning. After spending about 6 weeks in the USAF TB ward at Scott AFB, IL, he was diagnosed as having the first case of Meliodosis, (a bacterial lung infection prevalent in the Malay Peninsula) that the USAF had ever seen. The Army had reported a few cases. Chic currently is the Chief of Staff of the successor to the Star Wars missile defense program, and probably could still fit easily into that same flight suit.
